They only do high accuracy sampling under certain wind conditions. There used to be a "real time" sampling website and you could see the spikes from time to time. Vog is the big problem from time to time. It's fun visiting the the big island, been over there a number of times and taken the drive down to the water in the park and walked over the road that has been covered with lava a number of times in the last 20 years. I'm still waiting for the big shelf break-off event!
