Yes, as a result of the banksters pushing through the Fed Reserve Act and income tax to pay the interest to them (and eventually to others.) The con-gress (that the banksters bought) did not defend the people they supposedly represented then and that was the beginning of the end for that America.
Later the banksters encouraged the wars behind the scenes, backing both sides with loans. (That's what they do.)

I remember my grandfather (one of the most honest men I have ever known) telling me how FDR betrayed America by manipulating Japan with trade restrictions and then leaving the US Navy nearly defenseless at Pearl Harbor when FDR had evidence that an attack by Japan was enroute. The attack was without warning only because FDR wanted it that way.

Winners of wars write the history. Who will be writing the history of this depression?
