The whole czar thing is messed up. But it is something each president sets up specifically to meet his needs. Republicans have had czars as well. Hopefully the republicans have learned that dabbling with czars can lead to an abuse of czars.

But if Obama's henchmen start doing clawbacks of pay to individuals, that should scare the hell out of everyone. Let's say that Obama is successful in getting Obamacare through congress and now controls the healthcare industry. Let's say that cap & trade goes through. Let's say that all the stimulus money gets spent (huge amounts going into telecom).

This means that the government now has interests in:
Healthcare (including insurance, Hospitals, doctors, drug companies)
Energy
Telecom
Finance

Who's to say that the next Pay Czar can't say..."hmmm, those head & neck surgeons are making way too much money when they remove a thyroid. We are going to do a clawback on 50% of all thyroid removal surgeries" ?

I'm working on a couple of bids right now where my customers are submitting proposals for rural broadband stimulus money. What if the next pay czar says that we charged too much?

What if the next administration thinks that the people getting huge amounts of federal money to put in wind powered turbines are overcharging? Can they do a clawback for that money too?

This is not a power we want to give to our government
