Pew is a lefty foundation. The poll was of a couple thousand members of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. You don't have to be a scientist to belong to the AAAS. They simply assumed the members would be. I'm guessing most members are simply subscribers to Science magazine. Might be scientists.
