The whole thing reminds me of Atlas Shrugged. Crowds of political apparatchiks keep coming up with arbitrary payment cuts or raises, seemingly without rhyme or reason.

It's gone further and deeper than we normally realize. Question - we already know that representatives don't read bills. But who are the people who actually design those bills?

Many people are worried that GS is running the government. But what about those armies of nameless players who not only know what's in the bills, but who actually hammer them out, and package them for passage? Do they make secret side deals with interested parties?
