It is pretty hard to give citizens the basic care when your government spends 1/2 the military budget of the world. That is the elephant in the room(at least one of them) that Americans seem reluctant to discuss. Your deficit would start to magically disappear overnight you curtailed that mindless spending on wars on primitive countries that would be totally harmless to you if you would leave them in their alone in their backwoods.
