Galirayo - I firmly believe we intervene when our leaders 'think' it is in our national interest. It's why we propped up the Shah of Iran and it's why we buy oil from African nations run by ruthless dictators. Hell, Hugo Chavez is one of our oil suppliers. Saddam was a bad guy but the Middle East and Africa are full of them. I think this nation tends to use the 'freedom argument' when the nation 'to be freed' has something we want. Otherwise, we use 'diplomacy' as in the ongoing horror in Darfur...

Best regards,
John
