"And your response to the observation that the RW is lying about the healthcare reform issues is to say everyone does it. How does that advance the cause of honesty. Seems to me it trivializes the issue rather than makes it important."

In the prevailing environment of this thread the Republicans are the bad guys with all of the bad habits. If the board is a View From the Center the lies and distortions of each side should be equally discussed. Sometimes I wonder why I bother illustrating an alternate view.

What if Obama had:

1. Done his number one priority - health care - before Cap and Trade and energy.

2. What if Obama came out and told the people that the change we need is going to be expensive and impact everyone and admitted that change could not be achieved by taxing only the top 2%.

3. What if Obama came out and told the people that the most effective health care change was a Public Option and why?

Perhaps an honest approach would be rejected. I am of the opinion it would have been far better received than his use of thematic distortions/lies to advance his agenda. I may not have agreed with him but I would have respected the honesty. As it is I find him a typical politician veiled by beautiful rhetoric while using guys like Rahm Emmanuel and Nancy Pelosi to accomplish his goals. Change one can believe in - not bit - more of the same old same old.
