"The party must still reconcile the views of moderate and conservative Democrats"

NYT: Democrats see little chance for GOP cooperation on health care


But don't you see how hysterical this "blame the GOP" line is? The Dems have the presidency and large majorities in Congress. They could pass health care on a party-line vote. Easily. The people they have to negotiate with are all in the Democratic party.

True, the GOP are in no mood to throw them a lifeline, but how can anybody buy the story that it's the Republicans' fault when it's the Blue Dogs who must agree? But most of the Blue Dogs come from states that voted for McCain and it would be suicidal for them to vote for a government option now.
