I asked my criminal defense attorney partner and he said he doesn't know cause in 25 years it has never happened.

Evidence is the stuff the judge admitted into evidence at trial ... everything else is "non-evidence."

I can't imagine granting a new trial based on witnesses changing their stories. Their testimony at trial was evidence, everything they have to say afterwards doesn't matter at all.
