You are as wrong as anyone I have read recently.

I'm not wrong. I was articulating the POV of others, not my own. The topic under discussion was whether or not the proponents of the proposed changes believed that they would be good for the country or whether they were just interested in power and control. I argued that they really believe in it. I, on the other hand, think it utterly wrongheaded.
