Rob,

Interesting article on chip growth.

Worldwide chip revenues will return to double-digit growth next year, increasing 16.8 percent to $162.6 billion, according to the new World Semiconductor Trade Statistics forecast released in San Jose, Calif., Wednesday by the Semiconductor Industry Association. The new forecast is less bullish than WSTS' previous forecast, which had called for 20.1 percent growth in 1998.

The WSTS forecast now shows double-digital revenue growth continuing in 1999 and 2000. In 1999, semiconductor sales are now expected to increase by 19 percent to $193.5 billion followed by another 20 percent increase in 2000, pushing worldwide chip revenues to $232.2 billion.
