Every Doc I know complains more about private insurance companies than Medicare as far as getting paid. True they usually get more from the private insurance companies... if they can get it. 1st claims are almost turned down by rote.

They would not if they had to rely solely on payments from government programs. Few family practice clinics could survive at all on what MC/MA pay.

Sure, but most claims data is not done via EDI. There isn't a lot of paperwork involved anyway, other than having to deal with the bureaucracy of MC/MA.
