The "public option" would have to compete on a level playing field.

Why? As long as it doesn't lose money it's cool with me.

We're not playing games here... this is deadly serious business for the future of the country. Unless you put your ideology in front of the future of the country.

Many people don't trust that the government will keep the playing field level, especially if the "public option" has access to a printing press that churns out trillion dollars bills.

I wonder what would cause people to believe that? After all, the PO has not changed the way its done business for decades and its run by the gov't. From where do you think the idea came that Obama will screw every one once he has the public option and put the health insurance companies under? Do you think it might be the same people who brought us the birther movement? I think so.
