Do you REALLY think that the 13th Amendment WOULDN'T have passed AFTER Lincoln's proclamation??

1 - Quite possibly yes. Not without a major political push against slavery, but we had one before the proclamation, and could have continued and extended it without the proclamation.

2 - Even if you assume the 13 amendment wouldn't have happened without the Emancipation Proclamation, that wouldn't change the fact that the proclamation didn't end slavery.

If you ever find yourself in that position Tim, it will be nice to know you won't complain about it on "technical terms".

Slavery isn't a technical term. There are lots of bad things, including bad things related to racism, that aren't slavery. Pointing that out isn't making some unimportant technical distinction, but is rather recognizing a significant reality.
