I agree and making any contracts with a country such as Venezuala defies logic but then again what else is China going to do with dollars?

I can see all strategic resources nationalized at some point but we're not there yet.

I doubt it.

We saw the demand destruction that a few days at $140 caused.
Oil was only over $120 for a very short period in 2008.
...and that was when the world was awash in jobs.

WTI will undoubtedly bounce between extremes, but I think the ceiling is far short of $300 for the next 10 years, inflation notwithstanding.

In the very short term, 1-3 months, I do expect WTI to fall back under $60. Many wise folk are calling for a bit of a US$ rally.
