Having worked in the oil industry I can assure you that in producing oil and gas deep offshore, the cost of the U.S. and Chinese hypodermic needles, with added interest, will eat up most of the oil and gas production.

Brazil will have a minority of the subsalt oil and gas production left over to use locally or sell to others.

China and the U.S. are buying future Brazilian oil and gas with the wholesale value of Chinese and U.S. goods and services for which there would otherwise be little demand during the current economic downturn.

Petrobras is winning because neither they nor the Brazilian government can afford to finance the required investment without assistance from the U.S. and Chinese governments.
