Obviously, I don't know your Vet friend's situation. He might consider some of the group supplementary insurance options. Or, he might think about choosing a different doctor who will accept the Medicare and Tricare payment limits. Those limits have recently been reduced, and some doctors are having their toes squeezed because of it.

I've found the supplementary insurance to be a real annoyance, but for a catastrophic medical event, it can be a financial lifesaver. The 25% copays sound good, but 25% of a lot of money is still a lot of money. <G>
