That is the way you do it! Jobs and economic growth supersedes populations objections. Sign of things to come!!! Greenism and NIMBY must go! Frankfurt Airport Expansion Approved by German Court (Update1) Share | Email | Print | A A A By Chris Reiter Aug. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Fraport AG, the owner of Frankfurt Airport, can proceed with the construction of a fourth runway and third terminal after a court rejected efforts to block the 4 billion-euro ($5.7 billion) expansion. An administrative court in the German state of Hesse, where the airport is located, ruled that authorities appropriately approved the airport expansion in 2007 over the objections of local residents. Restrictions may still be placed on night flights at the airport, Europe’s third-largest, the court said today in an e-mailed statement. “It’s not only a good decision for Fraport, but also the German aviation industry and the region,” Klaus Busch, a spokesman for Fraport, said in a phone interview. In addition to the noise and environmental issues, the court reviewed complaints by Deutsche Lufthansa AG and other carriers that opposed a cap on flights between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The court said that 17 of the night flights didn’t conform to German law on aviation noise. Fraport’s Busch said that the number of night flights will need to be reevaluated by Hesse’s economy and transport ministries. Fraport shares rose as much as 1.12 euros, or 3.2 percent, to 36.12 euros in Frankfurt trading.
