Some of the Dollar assets held by China will not be repaid, but yes, the value of American properties should decline. In spite of the current stock market rally stocks are well off their highs - just as they are in Shanghai as well.

Nominal price deflation is a funny thing. My Dad's Father saw his salary cut, like all employees at Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) during the Great Depression. Yet this reduced salary allowed them to purchase a much larger home in a better neighborhood in Los Angeles, new appliances, a new car, and also hire, a maid, a cook, a nanny for the twins and the other two children, and a gardener as well. Keep your income and you're affluent.
