Knighty, i never said that government can't help a given individual, so the straw man used to make me wrong doesn't exist. bernie madoff made people money for a while, too. that makes him a great guy, no? why do bring up bernie madoff? because medicare (and social security and now we are learning our economy) is a ponzi scheme, too. $37 trillion in unfunded obligations, right? bankrupting america, right? yes, the government is great at transferring wealth... from future generations to current generations with most of the cash going to the oligarchy and a pittance to the serfs. in that, government works grrrrrreat! how do i explain to my 8 year old he's already nearly $200k in debt, interest rates are about to explode and that this is a good thing government has done?
