Michelle Obama: The right to bare legs?

This past Sunday, first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama was spotted wearing a pair of shorts as she deboarded Air Force One at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix. The Obamas were returning from a trip to the Grand Canyon. The question seems to be whether Michelle Obama was dressed appropriately.

To be honest, our first thoughts were, ''So what if she's in shorts? She has nice legs and we hope our legs look that good when we hit our 40s.''

She and her family were vacationing in Arizona visiting the Grand Canyon where it gets very hot. Isn't it assumed shorts would be the most appropriate clothing if one wants to be comfortable in the heat?

The big issue as to whether the first lady should follow a strict dress code started in February with a furor that erupted after she went sleeveless in her official portrait.

We think she looks like a very fit woman who is taking her children on vacation. What's wrong with that?

What do you think? Should the first lady be able to wear what she pleases? Or is there a certain dress code required at all times for the wife of the most powerful man in America?
