The entire brokerage sector is going to make bundles off of this volatility.

The only way I would short EGRP would be to offset it with a long on another brokerage stock, Schwab, etc. (Schwab makes the largest percentage of their revenues from commissions, and so would be a good long candidate for this hedged position.

Actually, in the Washington Post there was an article on how well all of the major on line brokers weathered the last few days. Since the majority of people don't have these accounts, but do read the newspaper...I'd avoid trying to capitalize on the problems you experienced. Most people actually think these would be better buys than they thought before the crash.

I think EGRP is a long-term short.

What I am trying to say is that the recent volume definitely helped them -I'm sureof that. Their revenues will probably surge this Q due to all this damn volume. However, after next Q, the stock may be a good short.

I closed a short last week. I think it is too dangerous right now after the recent decline. Too much gambling money betting that it will go back to the old highs. Yesterday was just another of a long and illustrious list of flops - no real new news. IMHO.
