Instock and Sergio: The fundamentals of CHAT are improving rapidly with the new direction in their server market. Sales of their new server are really coming on strong. They have a top notch product that is attracting the attention of some well known users. I really liked the following report-> NASDAQ:CHAT) a leading manufacturer of highly managed consolidated server products, recently competed in a comprehensive workgroup server shoot-out conducted by Internet Week (formerly Communications Week) magazine. ChatCom's RAINS based server array captured top honors in terms of performance and scalability in the Sept. 15 issue. Internet Week, in a comprehensive test analysis that looked at all major workgroup network servers, said of ChatCom's products, ''ChatCom doesn't build stand-alone servers, it builds server arrays. Or as the Chatsworth-based company calls it, Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Network Servers (RAINS). ''Fancy names aside, the company's ChatterBox server clusters are ideal for high-density installations where groups of servers need to be managed and run efficiently without the usual mess of wires, air-conditioning, and power consumption with traditional server farms.'' The article lauded ChatCom's performance, saying, ''The performance of the ChatCom server was stellar. The machine ran head and shoulders above all other systems we tested, and nearly doubled the throughput of its nearest competitor at 300 virtual users with 1,043 kilobits per second transmitted. And keep in mind this was not the whole array of ChatCom servers, but simply the performance of a single motherboard, or server card''. Internet Week's overall analysis of the ChatCom system: ''The ChatCom system is ingenious and works extremely well. Because each server doesn't require a separate power supply, fan and drive array, overall power consumption is a fraction of what it would be with separate servers. Heat dissipation, though greater than a single twin-CPU server is significantly less than it would be with an array of such servers.'' The article's analysis continued on to say, ''It features high server density for environments where space is a premium, and offers scalability unlike any other machine we examined here.'' In conclusion, Internet Week said of ChatCom, ''For enterprise installations planning to scale to more than three or four servers, this box (the ChatterBox) is absolutely worth a closer look.'' Founded in 1982, ChatCom is a leading supplier of award-winning managed, consolidated application and communication server systems to Fortune 1000 companies worldwide. Located in Chatsworth, ChatCom is publicly held and traded on NASDAQ under the symbol CHAT. ChatCom can be reached at 800/456-1333 or on the Web at jlchatcom.com . RADAR
