Motley Fool Evening News slam on ASND: <<There are plenty of other great examples of poor risk-reward trade-offs outside of the semiconductor capital equipment area. The only reason I choose to focus on it is because some of the more rabid, blinders-on rants I have heard have focused on these companies. ASCEND COMMUNICATIONS (Nasdaq:ASND - news) would make another great example -- as would half a dozen companies purchased at various prices at various times. Buying stocks without leaving a margin of safety is like swinging at every pitch that comes your way -- you will exhaust yourself, strike out quite a bit, and eventually give up. Unless you think you are the stock version of the Sultan of Swat, leave the trading to the pros. Focus on buying quality companies at low valuations whenever they present themselves and remember to leave a pretty good margin -- 33% to 50% -- between the fair value of a company in two or three years and the current price you are paying for it.>> Cheers, Chi-X hath Spoken! Jeff, I'm no tech person just asking a question. I read almost 2 years ago that, frame relay and atm were the hot items of future? If this is nothing more than an digestive period? I made a good buy. If there are alot more problems ahead? I think will see 18-19 IMO. You seem to be bullish on it and knowledgable of there work? I never would have even thought about ASND except I'm in compaq and IDTI, etc, etc. and there name keeps coming up! Hey, I like making money and hope it pops and runs, sincerely. Love the idea of them being #1 in IP market! That's why I bought CPQ. Ken
