"can anybody please tell me why the jump on the open today?"

Actually the question should be why did WSTL go down $2.5 yesterday with 20 minutes to go? The answer is it went down because of Margin selling. It opened up to get back to where it was trading all day.

"Is it advantage to buy AMTX or WSTL or does it really matter"..

It is advantagious to buy AMTX if the spead between AMTX and WSTL is greater than 90% except if the merger doesn't go through. If the merger isn't going to go through for some reason, then I would lean towards WSTL. Rather be left owning WSTL (personal opinion).

"A lot of people on this thread see WSTL hitting single digits...why"

I would like to know the answer to this question to.

I think some reason's why people are saying single digits are for the following reasons:

1. Paid to much for AMTX

2. NO substantial announcements have been made. I mean
NONE...NADA...NOTHING...ZERO. During the conf. call BEFORE last
(JULY 97), Seamans spoke of three SUBSTANTIAL contract
announcements to be announced within the "weeks" and "months"
ahead. Well it has been months..too many months and the
shareholders (backbone of the company) and analysts have become
totally impatient.

3. OPEN TO OTHER REASONS

On the other hand, WSTL may have over paid for AMTX under the MICROscope but WSTL needed DMT and who else better to get it from, than AMTX. Over the long haul...a WSTL/AMTX merger is BIG, I mean HUGE, POWERFULL...simply PERFECT!

As far as the announcements, I am just counting on SEAMANS coming through. I can't imagine that he would have made misrepresentations!
