just as CD rom needed 3 years to get from 1x to 24x standard, DVD rom may need 3 years to get to HD speed.

OR LESS, since CDROM spindles are already available, and lots of tech such as variable speed read is available.

You are right that the write speed will suck. and for SOHO systems, they hate to wait.

Hmmm...the more i think of it, the more you are right...
