We agree on the fact that there are way too many federal employees. Part of this is due to politics, porkbarrel and other--programs that the politicians say we need, which is debatable. Part is due to the reward structure within government being tied to organizational level and number of employees supervised instead of efficiency and productivity. I know of one instance in which a losing government enterprise was turned around on a dime by giving the employees ownership in their productivity.
