Meathead,

I took Venkie's cue and read the report from IDC research for the quarter just ending(under "Hot New Research" "PC Market") and I must say I find what you and Paul are saying much more in line than alot of the recent sentiment on this thread.

It seems this hashing around occurs every quarter and always gets more intense going into quarter-end. I think the FUD only increases as technological advances accelerate and competition becomes bloodier. One of the main reasons I invested in DELL was because of the laser like focus of management. Unlike alot of tech companies that have fallen by the wayside (Novell,Borland), DELL seems to know who they are as a company and pursue those avenues that can incrementally add to their growth without being distracted by every new trick that comes down the pipe. I think Michael Dell mentioned something along these lines recently in an Australian interview.

I agree with you in your disagreement that Dell is threatened by new entrants in their area. Theres a hell of alot more to it than a screw driver and an assembly line, just as there is more to Coca Cola than colored sugar water.

Do you have any idea why GLOBEX is being so unpleasant this evening. Does it have to do with that Iraqi madman? I've been out today and havent caught up on the news.
