Profit margins for health insurers have been noted in several articles. My issue with insurers is not so much their profit margins, as the fact that they can arbitrarily deny prescribed procedures, refuse patients with pre-existing conditions or drop coverage completely. The patient is then left with no recourse other than a lengthy and expensive legal battle. I think the most effective way to reduce medical costs is to have people change their lifestyle... We are in 100% agreement here. I say let's appoint Mme as Food Czar. She'd have us all at least eating healthfully in no time.
