A few "Bear" rumors may have pulled us down: From TheStreet.com -- snip At 2:30 p.m. I thought we had a shot for plus 100 again. Sure enough, the bears, not content with hitting below the belt, decided to bite a few ears before the bell rang, with rumors flying that Compaq was canceling a big drive order because of overinventoried positions. Hmmm, Latin and tech: the Achilles heels of this market? Not even a denial from Merrill's stalwart analyst, Lucy Painter, could put the ear back on the bull, however, and the market ended the day sloppy and listless. -- snip Dale
