It's not a matter of degrees -- the difference is, of course, qualitative. Marxists want to have a political system under which the "people" - read, the political elite - would have overwhelming powers. Under "mature" socialism, they would own all of the nation's businesses. Everyone would become equal - with political bosses being, of course, more "equal" than others.
