That's the consistency part...it takes time to establish a reliability record...they can accelerate the process by offering long warranty periods, but bad experiences damage the brand. I bought a new mercury sable back ~20 years ago...at 85K miles the transmission stopped going forward at all. It would only go in reverse. It is the single thing i remember most about the car.

Nissan cars are crap. Ford is much better.
