You missed the quote by a couple of words....

'So at the present time, the company is not for sale,'' he said.

I suppose that means as of tomorrow it may well be for sale.

"To quote Ed McCracken at today's stockholders meeting, 'The
company is not for sale.'"

To quote Ed McCracken at previous times:

- "NT will never run on an SGI platform" (said 1 year before
announcing SGI is working on an NT platform.)

- "We don't want to sell computers to banks or insurance
companies. That's boring." (said 12 months before announcing
SGI is making the enterprize its focus.)
