On the brighter side, Orrin Hatch, no liberal (he said he BECAME a Senator to oppose Ted Kennedy!), had a lot of really great things to say about Ted Kennedy. They crafted some wonderful legislation together, by doing just what you said, compromising and making it a win-win - a lot of it directed at children. They were close friends. Utah, also not liberal, is flying it's flags at half staff for Ted Kennedy today.
