There have been plenty of drugs that are actual cures. The fact that many others are not has more to do with the difficulty of curing many conditions than with some plot to string people along to anutize drugs for maximum profit. As for "me too" drugs, I think they are very underrated (although that's mostly do to how low they are rated, its not an assertion that they are the best things since sliced bread, if your rated low enough, calling you underrated is rather faint praise.)
