It used to be that we had a "fire season" in the fall when the Santa Anas kick up. Now it's fire season all year round.

Plus we have some arsonists that go around setting fires whenever it gets hot, dry or windy. The news outlets/weather guys always tip them off as to when the conditions are ideal to set the fires by declaring a "red flag" or "red alert" or some other clue. You always know when there's going to be a fire because of the weather guys telling everyone to be careful with fire in areas where there's dry brush. Sometimes they even give the best locations. Of course, then they get more air time when the fires start.
