I guess the rebuttal is that we don't WANT to be like Victor. :-)

They talked about that most of this afternoon on CNBC. There was a later report that he wasn't wiped out completely, and earlier reports that the clearing house he was using racked up big losses as well.

Whatever happened isn't likely to spur sales of his book on life as a trader though.

It's all gambling. Some games are a little faster that's all.

<ASND-ites:

You all could be Victor Neiederhoffer.

This guy lost it all on Monday. He sold S&P puts before the market
tanked. 'Course those puts got awful expensive as the market dove 554
on Monday. He got called out of his puts via margin. Lost $100 Million on
Monday--wiped him out.>

Jefff, Is it true? Or rumour? I liked his book. Hope, it's not true.

This story is extremely hard to believe - why would someone do that after the asian markets tumbled and a market loss of 100+ points on Fri? I say the story is false.

Have you read his book, The Education of a Speculator? It was pretty entertaining. He devotes many pages to his and others' gambling experiences, and how that relates to his occupation.
