That flick, especially the segment dealing with religion, which has been kicking around for a couple of years, is mind expanding to be sure.

As a student of religion, interestingly the segment in no way undermines my faith, in fact cements my religious ideals in a Jungian sort of way, not unlike how reading Northtup Frye's "The Great Code" and "Double Vision" does.

I'm surprised that the segment doesn't touch on the idea, when talking about precession, that the the Greek word for fish (i.e. zodiac = pisces) is ichthus, an acronym for Jesus Christ, son of God, saviour. Also, surprisingly the segment doesn't touch on the importance of opposites in astrology and the fact that pisces in the 12 houses of the zodiac, is found opposite of virgo.

I can imagine how for fundamentalists this segment, as you mentioned, might cause incredible dissonance...Most people whose upbringing is in a religious environment start out as fundamentalists. Most, having been exposed to the kind of dissonance generated by this segment learn to reduce dissonance by moving away from fundamentalism towards a metaphoric concept of religion on their religious journey.

PS. A very difficult biblical quote for fundamentalists to embrace is found here:

Luke 14:26
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple."

The only meaningful interpretation in the context of a loving religion must be metaphorically based, imo.

I prefer the "ADDENDUM" version.

video.google.com

zeitgeistmovie.com

The section on United Fuit and Economic Hitman is a must see.

Incidently, the local waterboard here in Scotland is stoll owned by the State. All the other distics in the UK have Water Boards that are now owned by private comapnies.

I'm free enterprise an all that, but when it comes my water, no, I dont want some foreigner company telling me whether I get water or not.

A sensible mixture between private enterprise and state insitutions is always needed. The extremists on both sides of the political divide can go take a hike.

I posted the link before, on some other discusion on FDR.
