What! you don't like comics, didn't read comics, comics are the reason I love to read today, was a poor reader in grade 3 then I discovered comic books, Scrooge McDuck was my favorite but loved all the comics of the day, Batman, Superman,Spider-man, Archie, Classic comics, went on to read Science fiction then Fiction and Novels, of course today the only things I read are the newspapers, info about stocks on the Internet and stock boards, no time to read books anymore lol
PS I still read the comics in the newspapers, Dilbert is my faverite.

A promoter I worked for, Karl Forbes of Kirkland Lake (Strike Minerals) had a collection comic books with Superman No I issue from DC etc. He had the complete collection of the Green Hornet and Flash Gordon. In 1980 the collection was valued at $30,000, but it would be much more today I understand.

It is a natural step from reading Comics to reading news releases. You have to let your imagination run riot and keep a sense of fantasy.

My secondary education was Classics Illustrated of which I once had the whole set. Sadly I did not know what I had, and never kept them.

It was a sad day when Calvin and Hobbes stopped playing together. I believe I was the model for Calvin.

Once when my parents had denounced elements of my character, I said that I agreed with them heartily but wanted to know whether the cause was genetic or environmental. i.e. was it nature or nurture? Those were my exact words. I forget my age. I think 10.

Calvin: "Dad, are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportunities you botched?"

Father: "If I were, you can bet I'd be re-evaluating my strategy."

Calvin, later to his mother: "Mom, Dad keeps insulting me."
