From thestreet.com. ########################################## In options activity today: Ascend (ASND:Nasdaq) out-of-the-money calls have been trading briskly for the past two days. The November 35 calls traded 4,722 contracts yesterday and have continued the strong performance today, trading 1,417 contracts. While the company has been rumored as a recent takeover candidate, traders said the call buying was probably linked more to short-term optimism than any impending deal. "But a deal is always in the back of my mind," said one. Open interest on the November 35 calls stood at slightly more than 16,000 contracts.
