$150 per month times each kid plus what he owes himself. We're talking a few thousand dollars per year. A lot of money when you don't have a job....

Fine. If he ain't got nothing he's got nothing to lose. So let him file for bankruptcy, or even better, let him tell the hospital where to get off. But I don't want to pay the bill.

I've made sure my kids had insurance, even when they couldn't afford it, and frankly, even when I couldn't afford it. And not one day since they were born have they been without health insurance. Although there were days when we didn't have another damned thing.

Life is about priorities. If you want to gamble by not having health insurance, it is stupid, but some people are always going to do that.

I'm too busy paying for my own. Health insurance at 16K/year. Life insurance in case I die to take care of my wife. Long term disability in case I become unable to work. Car insurance out the ass. Nursing home insurance in case I get Alzheimers. Motorcycle insurance. Liability insurance in case I get sued. Homeowners insurance that just went up 50% for no good reason.

When I get through paying for my own insurance I'll think about whether I can afford to buy anyone else some.
