First of all, if nothing changes, the figure will be $32 trillion in 75 years:

This is way, way over your head, nitwit.

The PRESENT VALUE of the unfunded liability is $36.4 Trillion (as of 1/1/09) -- that is the amount that would have to be available NOW, combined with future HI tax revenue, in order to fund the required benefit payouts.

The 75-year horizon figure has traditionally been used in reporting, and that is precisely what is wrong with the system. You can't plan based on 75 years because at the end of 75 years you end up with an even more massive unfunded liability with no time to solve the problem.

You're an idiot. You have no business even thinking about this crap because you can't begin to understand it. Leave it to people who know something about it.
