"We have got to have a compromise bill "

No, we don't. Elections have consequences. We won.

The compromise was to give up single payer. so now onto the public option. That IS the compromise. and I don't want to see anymore out of whack balance books. non-profit hospitals and non-profit drug companies. period. that is not 'harsh'. it is really quite reasonable.

I don't think Puppets is the correct word. Backroom politics is rough stuff. Obama can only do so much fighting.

He cannot do the gay thing because the military objects. He always has the military industrial complex to deal with, wall street, powerful corporations, medical community and then his own lobbyists and supporters.

There is a very strong argument that privae health admnistraiton with its 35% administrative fees is not proper for our society.

That is why people have to try and learn how our halls of power really work. Most people do not have a clue.

And why we cannot get very far without public financing of campaigns to get rid of the lobbyists.

Obama cannot even think of tort reform (although it is needed, IMO) because the lawyers like the teachers and unions own the dems.

I am ok with that because I know we have to have those folks as counter forces to corporate power.

But with public financing of campaigns all of those problems go away.
