I think we should see the armed forces as necssary evils. We do it because we must. We never celebrate it. It is a solum (can't spell it) matter. And we never rush towards war. It is a horrible thing to wage war. There is a myth one cannot be a fierce fighter and still hate war and armies. It is just that, a myth. We liberals hate war, but are fierce fighters because we possess mankinds greatest strength. We think about a much larger number of variables like Sun Tzu would. We think about what we do, not follow blindly. Know the enemy. Bush didn't do that. Know us, he did not know that either. And kindness and empathy are not acts of weakness.
