This morning there is a big high pressure system locked over central Colorado. The clockwise winds around this system are bringing smoke from the SoCal fires (as well as from a couple of small fires in Western Colorado) over the Denver area. We have advisories this morning for folks with breathing problems to remain indoors. Sky is a very eerie color when the sun tries to shine through.

Los Angeles fire map: Tujunga, Mt. Wilson, Glendale, La Crescenta, Acton, La Cañada
1:19 p.m., 9/1/09: Crews made progress today as moister weather moved in and firefighters returned to Mt. Wilson. But officials were still worried about areas around Acton and Agua Dulce. Yesterday, a retardant was dropped between those cities and the fire. In Haines Canyon above Tujunga, a fire was burning on itself, but a shift in winds could put the community at risk.
