"A report that Chinese state-owned companies will be allowed to walk away from loss-making commodity derivative trades provoked anger and dismay among investment bankers on Monday as they feared it may set a damaging precedent."

Gee as if the use of derivatives by the New York bankers to take down the Japanese banking system last time around was not a damaging precedent. The Japanese have yet to even start to recover their much touted and mostly historical honor.

Many years ago I was fortunate to read this most entertaining book on the activities of Wall Street investment banks wrt to derivatives. Perhaps the Chinese authorities have a copy LOL.
