>> So are there guidelines? Can we see them?

I'll be glad to provide guidelines.

- If it only lasts a few seconds but causes no injury, as with waterboarding, it isn't torture.

- If it is scary, but doesn't cause intense pain or permanent physical injury it isn't torture.

- If it makes you uncomfortable but doesn't hurt (e.g., sleep deprivation or exposure to cold) it isn't torture.

- If it is embarrassing but causes no real physical trauma (having your photo made in a pile of naked people) it isn't torture.

If you would like to have me clarify some examples for you feel free to post them, acid head.

Here are some things that ARE torture:

- Beheading someone.

- Beating someone to within an inch of their life.

- Cutting someone's eyelids or using fence cutters on their knuckles.

You see the difference, right? One actually is painful or disfiguring while the other isn't.

Actually there's a humane argument for torture - well a couple humane arguments for it. But right now, I'll just mention that the Clinton era alternative was rendition: to "grab" someone illegally and ship them to Egypt or Pakistan or someplace that would torture with no holds barred. Any torture Americans do will be mild in comparison to what other countries do.

"That's a no-brainer. Of course it's a violation of international law, that's why it's a covert action. The guy is a terrorist. Go grab his ass."
