If South Asian seniors in Fremont frequently feel isolated and cut off from their roots, I can only imagine how lonely it must feel in Peoria or Topeka where there are no India Community Centers and other ethnic support organizations.

Wish I lived closer to Fremont myself. I need to brush up on my Hindi and learn to cook a decent dal.

Glad to hear the Ismailis are doing a good job in the senior services arena.

Are Ismaili Muslims the same as Aga Khani Muslims? Or are they the same as the Bohras?

I am extremely familiar with the East Bay including Fremont. And the article posted by Sam is very true and also moving. Particularly the one where the children take the SSI checks. The parents from the sub-continent never ever ask for money from their kids. I wonder why kids take their money.
