As far as I knew before he died he had little money and I was prepared to help him out financially. He declined any help. Yes, though no one knew it, he could have paid more than the $50K+ his illness ultimately cost him. OTOH, the more he spent on this the less he'd have to live on the rest of his life had he survived. He had no job, no real prospects, no pension, no social security coming - he hadn't worked since his 20's. The money he had came from his parents savings. His dad was a barber and his mom didn't work - at least not for decades. They lived in a little house that sold for a little over $30K after he was gone. <<I am sure I get only what is ordinary health care treatment for Americans>>
